You’ll get an introduction to social media and some easy to understand best practices for IGC’s. Learn how social media can be a great cost-effective platform for sharing information about featured plants or special offers. Our workshop will feature garden industry veteran Laura Munro whose service, Engaging Garden, helps garden centers harness the power of social media. It will be an informative hour with a promise of absolutely no “techno babble”!

About the Speaker: Laura energized her public speaking career in high school as a national finalist in extemporaneous speaking—and she has not been quiet since! Laura’s roots in gardening grow deep. She helped pioneer organic gardening for home gardeners with products dedicated to Independent Garden Centers, and helped build the Whitney Farms brand in its early years. More recently, she was instrumental in revitalizing the Black Gold brand and developing award-winning IGC-specific programs to help garden centers enjoy success. She founded Engaging Garden (, an affordable social media service for IGC’s. She combines nearly 20 years of industry knowledge with marketing credentials that include an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley and marketing assignments at companies ranging from start-ups to the Fortune 100.
